Four Levels of Care

Palm Springs Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.

Routine Home Care

Hospice care offers specialized support to patients at end-of-life, in their homes, hospice facilities, nursing homes, and other appropriate settings. The goal is to prioritize patient comfort and enhance their quality of life, via a team of healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other specialists. Collaboration between these professionals ensures each patient’s unique needs are met with compassionate care that respects their dignity and individuality. Hospice care can help with medical needs, emotional support, and daily tasks.

Continuous Home Care

This superior level of hospice care is specifically designed for patients who perhaps require more assistance with managing their symptoms and pain. Offered around the clock, hospice care at this advanced level provides patients with readily available support, ensuring that they receive the highest standard of care possible. As this level of hospice care focuses on the management of patients’ symptoms and pain, caregivers and loved ones can rest assured that their beloved family member or friend will receive all the care they need in order to be comfortable. As such, this specialized hospice care is ideal for those patients with significant health concerns, as it ensures that they receive the extra attention and support necessary to help them through their journey.

Respite Care

The respite care level in hospice is primarily designed to provide temporary relief to caregivers who have already been spending an immense amount of time and energy on caring for their terminally ill loved ones. It is no secret that caring for a terminally ill patient can be quite challenging, both physically and emotionally. Respite care serves as a break for caregivers to attend to their own personal needs without having to worry about their loved ones’ health and well-being. During this period, the patient is admitted to a hospice facility or a similar care center, where they receive comprehensive care from a team of healthcare professionals who are skilled and experienced in providing palliative care services. This level of hospice care can provide the caregivers with some much-needed rest, which can help reduce their stress levels and increase their overall well-being.

General Inpatient Care

This hospice level aids critical patients with severe symptoms that cannot be managed at home. The hospice team, including medical specialists, concentrates on stabilizing symptoms and reducing discomfort. The goal is to offer support and improve the patient’s quality of life, including emotional and psychological support for those close to the patient. The care also includes customized patient-specific therapy. The primary goal is to help patients improve to a degree where they can continue care at a lower hospice degree.
